Boardgaming at Board Games Cafe

This is an interesting way to settle your saturdays afternoon in. Think about it. A group of 5 -6 friends coming together to laugh at each others' stupidity, eying at each other and hatching evil plans to thaw the others, team-bonding and learning new games, cummon how boring can it get?

Currently there are a couple of prominent board games cafe in Singapore, such as Settlers Cafe, Mind Cafe, Pit Stop Cafe and decoders Cafe.

Who: Settlers Cafe
Where: 3 outlets (SMU, holland Village and Central, near Clarke Quay)

Rates:
9 dollars per hour for 2 guests
15 dollars per hour for 3 - 6 guests
$2.50 per hour for each guests after the 6th

Verdict: Imho, i still prefer Mind Cafe and Pitstop Cafe over Settlers due to their pricing strategy are rather inflexible. Also, the competition in this business to dominate the best locations in the town area are so fierce that they are all "strategically located" among each others. Gameswise, we feel that they have quite a comprehensive range of favorites such as Bang!, Snortas, and such..

Who: Mind Cafe

Where: Bugis Purvis Street, Prinsep Street (opposite Parklane and SMU), SAFRA tampines and
Boat Quay
Rates: If I remember correctly, it is $3 for the first hour and $2.50 for every subsequent hour per person. Can anyone correct me on this?

Verdict: We kinda patronise Mind Cafe quite often because they have the most comprehensive set of games to try out. Try Mind Cafe @ Boat Quay, the room is the biggest there, 3 floors, in fact. More seats to choose from. There you can find more long strategy games such as Shadows Over Camelot, Arkham Horror and such.

Who: Pit stop Cafe
Where: Circular Street (dunno where? Its somewhere near Boat Quay where the infamous stretch of pubs lies. Still dunno? Click here)
Rates: $3 for the first hour
$2.50 for each subsequent Hour

Verdict:
Its pretty hard to find this cozy little outlet amidst the pubs and eateries. Nevertheless, guys, this is my personal favorite. I'm seriously wondering if the complementary cute penguin water dispenser at every table, friendly and approachable staff are the best things @ Pitstop. However the games available there are lesser compared to Mind and Settlers Cafe. If you need help on hardercore games like Power Grid and Princes of Florence, sometimes no one there can teach you the rules though. Oh and lastly, try sitting at the balcony. Although they are abit squeezy, but more importantly, YOU CAN ESCAPE THE SCREAMS AND SHOUTINGS FROM THE TABLE BESIDE YOU!
